Your Name:
Nikolai Arlovski
Your Nationality:
Belarusian
Your Nation's Full Name:
Рэспубліка Беларусь
Age:
Nineteen
Sex:
Male
Physical Description:
Nikolai is tall and lanky, without much muscle at all. His eyes are a cool violet, and they pair perfectly with the male’s ghastly pale skin and silvery blond locks. Because of the bags beneath his eyes, Nikolai seems to look perpetually sleep deprived, and it is apparent that could stand to gain a few pounds.
In terms of clothing, Nikolai favors a gray-blue coat with black fur lining and black slacks, along with steel-toed boots and the knife holsters he has strapped to each of his thighs.
His hair is completely straight, save for an errant cowlick that curls upward, perhaps in representation of his capital, Minsk.
He rarely smiles, and will often be seen with his trademark scowl, though it is not impossible for him to show emotion. When he does, it seems strained and perhaps a bit forced, but it is simply because he isn’t really used to expressing himself.
At all times, Nikolai wears a white gold wedding band on his left ring finger under his glove, fervently awaiting the day he can slip the ring’s partner onto his sister’s finger.
Personality:
Nikolai is, above all else, cold and distant. He doesn’t really enjoy the company of other nations that aren’t his family, and he has a very strained relationship with the Baltics, at best. He does not talk much, but when he does, or when needs to communicate with someone that doesn’t speak Russian, his English is less than proficient. This isn’t because he is dumb, but simply because he does not appreciate needing to know and speak the ‘capitalistic sow’s’ language. Though, when communicating with other nations, he is articulate and precise with his wording.
He has an almost unhealthy obsession with marrying his sister, but it isn’t a lust driven desire. He loves his sister, more than anything in the entire world, but he is terrified that she will continue to gain power and eventually find others to love more than he. When he was young, he was never really taught much about love and relationship, no more than that humans stayed with whomever they married for the rest of their lives. Once Anya started to gain power, he became consumed with the need to keep her close and to have all of her love, though he was proud of her accomplishments deep down.
When first meeting Nikolai, or first talking to him after a long while, it is possible that he will just try and ignore the person talking with him, or try to get them to go away. It isn’t that he hates socializing, he has just been so removed from everyone that isn’t family for such a long time that he is self-conscious about his ability to start and maintain a conversation, let alone a friendship, should someone try.
He has a very delicate temper, and can without warning become violent if you do something to anger him. Injuries inflicted are not fatal, but often include broken limbs and deep gashes.
He is a hard worker, and puts his all into anything he does. He loves his citizens dearly, and often sheds his nation persona and leaves for weeks at a time to help on farms and in homes, free of charge.

Dislikes:
✕People who are close to Anya (physically and relationship-wise)
✕Winters that kill crops
✕Running out of vodka
✕Speaking for extended amounts of time
✕Everyone
Fears:
✖Losing Anya; She is the most precious person to him, and it would devastate him to lose her, be it in war or to a quarrel.
✖Deep water; He's not too fond of water he can't see the bottom of. It makes him feel uneasy, especially in cold areas where an errant ice chip may harm his ship.
✖General Winter; He's a pretty scary man.
Strengths:
✦Knife handling; He can hit exact points from far away, and can unsheathe and wield his knives before you even have a chance to blink.
✦Strength; This refers more towards his mental strength. He has endured and continues to endure many hardships, but he continues to trudge on without a single complaint.
✦Persistence; While it seems that this may be more of an annoyance than a strength, it is actually helpful when Nikolai wants or needs something.
✦Intelligence; He spends the chilled winters in his house reading, which has resulted in a fairly large knowledge of the world and its teachings.
✦Love; He loves with his entire heart and soul, and leaves absolutely no room for doubt. He loves his siblings and his close friends, although he doesn't show it, and would die for any one of them in an instant.
Weaknesses:
♠His emotions; He does try and work on it, but he is very inept emotion-wise most of the time. He recognizes how emotions make him fee, but is at a loss of how to express them for the most part.
♠Selective hearing/thinking; He only hears and thinks what he wants to think, and what he thinks would be best for he and his people.
♠Anger and temper; He has a short fuse, and is quick to lash out when he should really just listen and try to understand. Out of all his emotions, anger is the one that gets a lot of use.
♠Creepiness; He doesn't see this one, though he's been told he is very frightening. He doesn't really understand it.
Sample Post:
Nikolai had a love-hate relationship with days like this. It was bitter cold outside, perhaps the introduction to the winter’s first freeze, and the Belarusian simply had nothing to do besides sit around. While it was better than being at meetings or filling out paperwork, it certainly was not as nice as spending time with his siblings.
He looked at the khaladnik on his countertop, the boiled eggs cut to look like flowers adorning the edges of it (clearly his brother’s work), and wished he had an appetite to eat it all with. Unfortunately, the man’s hunger wasn’t what it used to be, and he shied away even from the most delicious borscht and kalduny.
Right in the midst of his quiet food musings, the sharp ring of his telephone broke the silence of his house. Who could possibly be calling…? Of course, he got his answer the moment he picked up the receiver. It was a voice that he would probably deny being pleased to hear, but deep down was thankful for sometimes, for the company, if nothing else. Because God knew he wouldn’t be allowed to hang up now that he’d picked up.
“… Da, I am here, Amelia. No, I cannot. It is freezing outside. No, you may not. You will get pneumonia. I doubt you own anything with more cloth than the size of the price tag you bought it with.” The man had the barest hint of a smile as he leaned against the opening of one of his hallways, amused by the vehement assurance that she ‘totally had some really cute winter clothes that she’d been dying to try out’ and that he ‘should stop being so selfish because I bought a whole bunch of strawberries just for you and you’re just going to let them go to waste if you don’t let me come over and they were really expensive!!’. Aside from that annoying pitch of her voice, he couldn’t deny to himself that he was glad to have someone break the silence of his life.
