Physical Description: Dmitri is a sleepy-eyed man with a kind, perhaps boyish face. He’s not exceptionally tall, only about 5’10”, and contrary to popular belief, he’s actually more fit than his many layers of clothing make him appear (his cheeks are still very poke-able, though). He has a pale complexion—not sickly, but he definitely wouldn’t do too well out in the sun. His hair is light blonde, and reaches to about the bottom of his ear (his bangs often get into his eyes, but he isn’t usually bothered to cut it any shorter than that). His eyes are bright blue, with a bit of a drowsy look to them, even when he’s not tired at all. He often has a soft smile on his face that, while his resemblance to Ivan is definitely clear, isn’t creepy at all. He has a more ‘caring older brother’ look to him; he’s far from being an intimidating figure most of the time.
As for clothing, Dmitri tends to dress simply. ‘Casually formal’, you could say; just a white button-up shirt under a thick coat, simple pants (with suspenders to keep them up), and a tan scarf that he seems very attached to. He only really dresses more formally for special occasions.
(It should also be noted that he has a dimple when he smiles.)
Personality: Honest, hard-working, and generous, Dmitri is, on the simplest level, a nice guy. He cares very much about his siblings, and tries hard to take care of them, which is a difficult thing to do even on the best of days. He does his best to be nice to others, even if he doesn’t really like them, and despite the fact that he tends to be quite shy. He will sometimes go out of his way to get someone to smile, and he isn’t opposed to giving out hugs if he thinks someone needs them. He’s a great ‘caring big brother’ figure, and some would say he has a nurturing, almost ‘motherly’ aura about him. He genuinely cares about people, and he will often put the needs of those he cares about before his own needs.
He’s optimistic, a ‘glass is always half full’ kind of guy, and he tries to see the good in people to a fault. He’s always trying to see the bright side of things, and doesn’t like facing the reality of human brutality. He disapproves of violence, and tries to be the peace-keeper among his somewhat unhinged family, but he wouldn’t object to resorting to hurting someone if it meant protecting his siblings.
Dmitri also has a tendency to be protective and overbearing at times. Not always, but if he feels that his younger siblings are threatened in some way, he won’t hesitate to do everything he can to keep them safe or make them happy. He likes knowing that his family is content, at the very least, if not happy.
Dmitri’s not always the nice, happy guy down the street, though. It’s not impossible to make him angry, and when he does get angry, he can be a force to be reckoned with. People tend to underestimate him because of his loving nature, and they don’t expect him to be as strong as he is. And it isn’t always just having his family threatened in some way that makes him angry, there are other ways to elicit a negative reaction from him as well. It may not always be easy, but he will mess you up pretty darn badly if given a good enough reason. (It’s more often than not when he’s drunk, but even then, he doesn’t get drunk all that often).
But generally, he’s more of a “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all” kind of person, and makes more of an effort to be nice than to be mean, even if he doesn’t like someone. He tries his best to be a good role-model for his siblings, although whether or not it actually works is debatable. But it certainly makes him a likable person, nevertheless.

Sample Post: Dmitri sometimes wondered if being so nice was a fault of his, rather than something positive.
He pulled his gloves on as he hastily made his way across the yard, looking for a patch that caught more sunlight. It was warmer there, and, therefore, much easier to grow sunflowers. He knew that Anya loved sunflowers, and ever since it had started to get warmer, he had managed to get his hands on a few seeds.
He’d planted them as soon as he could, and had been doing his absolute best to take care of them. The weather wasn’t always warm, and there had been a couple of instances where he’d been afraid that they wouldn’t grow. He’d fully devoted himself to caring for the sunflowers, determined to make sure they lived long enough to fully mature.
Reaching the small patch of sunflowers, he smiled with satisfaction at how well they were doing. From what he could see, they were perfectly healthy; bright yellow, standing tall and proud in the sunlight. Perfect.
He knelt down, taking out the clippers so that he could cut one down. He was almost reluctant to, but he imagined his beloved younger sister’s delighted face when she saw the flower, and that was good enough for him. He cut the stem and, handling it carefully, stood up. He smiled at it, admiring his work for a moment. He planned to surprise Anya with the one sunflower, and then take her outside to show her the rest of them. Hopefully, all his hard work would pay off.
He just hoped that she would like his present.
