Are you a Nation or a Counterpart?: Nation
Your Name: Xiao Mei
Your Nation's Full Name: Republic of China ♥ 中華民國 ♥ Zhōnghuá Mínguó
Age: 21
Sex: Female
Physical Description:
A slender young woman with inquisitive amber eyes. Her hair, a dark brown shade, flows down her back but doesn’t quite reach her waist. She has a habit of tugging on it when she’s nervous or anxious, but she makes sure to spend time brushing it every day, and is fond of wearing floral ornaments in her hair. Mei blends in fairly well amongst her people, though more of them tend to have black hair, along with the lack of that strange strand of hair that never seems to lie flat. Not even hair gel or scissors seem to be able to defeat the stubborn lock, so she’s learned to ignore it when she can.
Mei is usually seen wearing the latest fashions in Taiwan. She takes joy in shopping for cute clothes, whether it’s for herself or for others, as it helps get her mind off of stress. She still owns some more traditional clothing, including the bright pink qipao and white skirt she’s better known for, however, nowadays one is more likely to find her in more modern, western-influenced clothes (specifically cardigans or chiffon tops/dresses—she has a liking toward ruffles), as it is more popular with her people.
Personality:
Some prefer to plot revenge, but Mei favors to honour her dead.
A curious girl with a sunny disposition, Mei loves to smile and see joy on other people’s faces. When first meeting her, she will likely give one a warm smile a strike up some friendly conversation, as she is always eager to make new friends. She will go to lengths to try to comfort those she cares for and hopefully lift their spirits. Being a generally agreeable person, she would much rather avoid fights, even if it means telling a white lie to avoid starting something (although this pertains less to Yao, and sometimes Yong Soo). However, this isn’t always the case.
Like many of the Asian countries, Mei is very proud of her culture, beliefs, and people. She isn’t afraid of asserting her opinions, or of standing up for what she’s passionate about, especially if it’s for a better change. She’s very stubborn, defending with a sharp tongue, and therefore reluctant to accept defeat. However, during those occasions, defeat is admitted bitterly and grudgingly. She won’t retaliate unless it may result negatively toward her people—after all, it’s her duty as a nation to be for her people.
Despite her friendly and peaceful appearance, Mei is very much capable of self defense, most of which is self-taught from her younger, wilder days. She’s not as strong as she was back then, though, as her personality has softened over the years, but for what she lacks in strength, she makes up in intelligence. In the more recent times, she’s had to be physically toned down, especially during Japanese occupation; however this gave her more opportunities to exercise her mind. The skills she picked up have lasted to this day.
After a long day of hard work, there are times when Mei gets overly stressed and, reminded of her limited control, begins to feel as confined and bottled up as ever. On these occasions, she likes taking long rides on her motorcycle to clear her mind, preferably in the evening, when it’s not as hot outside. The wind, the speed, and the adrenaline pumping through her veins lets the stress melt away, lifting away the strain and replacing it with that glorious feeling of freedom she longs for.

Sample Post:
Her head was ringing again.
Mei groaned as she stirred under the covers, blinking the sleep from her eyes. She hated waking up this early, and the fact it was because she had to attend a meeting with China and his boss today really didn’t help matters.
Groping blindly for the off button of her alarm, she felt an enormous strain lifted from her head when the incessant buzzing finally ceased. She proceeded to roll out of the comforting grasp of her bed and carried herself into the bathroom where she could, in order, brush her teeth, wash her face, and make sure that her hair looked presentable. Hopefully she’d be livelier after her face was in contact with the water.
As soon as her hairbrush met the counter again, she strolled over to her closet, sifting through her clothes until she found her business suit. She brought it to her face and inhaled the scent of freshly washed clothes, one that she always found pleasant, before dressing herself. China wouldn’t be scolding her again about coming in with wrinkled clothes—she’d make sure of that.
After making sure she headed to her refrigerator to grab a fan tuan for breakfast, she slipped on her shoes and made sure she remembered everything she needed to bring.
“Wish me luck,” she muttered to no one in particular. The door swung to a close behind her.
